About

Neelam is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Management Division at Columbia Business School and the Tamer Institute for Social Enterprise and Climate Change. She is currently studying social networks and entrepreneurial activity alongside Professors Dan Wang, Jorge Guzman, and Mario Small.

Prior to joining Columbia, Neelam earned her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering & Management Sciences (IEMS), with concentrations in Computational Social Science, Applied Statistics & Statistical Learning, and Optimization, at Northwestern University. There she was a researcher in the Science of Networks in Communities (SONIC) Lab, led by Dr. Noshir Contractor. She also served as the Co-President of the Northwestern Chapter of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).

Prior to her Ph.D., Neelam worked as a Strategy & Operations Consultant at Deloitte Consulting for two years. She holds a B.S. in Biomedical & Health Sciences Engineering from NC State University and UNC Chapel Hill and a B.S. in Economics from NC State University.

Neelam currently lives in NYC with her husband. In her free time, she enjoys eating ice cream, playing basketball, traveling, and curating her new Substack feed (recommendations welcome!)
